Welcome to the second episode of a very exciting project, in which I, your host Christopher Crowson, a participant of the Birthright Armenia program, am conducting interviews with my fellow Birthright Armenia volunteers. In these interviews, I hope to get our listeners acquainted with the Gyumri volunteers, see what they are doing here in Armenia and see what kind of insights they can offer us into life in Gyumri and Armenia today.

In today’s episode we are joined by our first non-American volunteer; Egor Afonin! Egor hails from the magnificent city of Saint Petersburg, Russia and has a versatile skill set, working as a translator, a voicing actor, a video editor and a part-time teacher. Being 31 and, therefore, on the cusp of no longer qualifying being able to participate in the Birthright Armenia program, Egor decided that it was high time to come and volunteer in Armenia to discover the country of some of his ancestors. In this particularly humorous episode, Egor tells us the fascinating story of his connection to the Armenian nation, about the advantages of volunteering in Gyumri, about his experience in Armenia as someone who did not know much about the country before his arrival, and about how Birthright Armenia has helped to uncover a part of his heritage that had been somewhat ‘lost’ over generations. In today’s episode, we are joined by another very special guest, Armand Pigeon! Armand comes from Orange County, California, USA and has just graduated from the University of California San Diego with a bachelor’s degree in economics and international affairs. Before he begins his master’s degree this September at the same university, Armand decided to spend his summer as a Birthright Armenia volunteer in the stunning city of Gyumri. In this episode, Armand tells us about what it was like growing up in a very Armenian environment back home, his thoughts on Gyumri and how it compares to Yerevan, the important volunteering work he has been doing here, the differences he has noticed between Armenians in America and Armenians in Armenia, and much more!  In today’s episode, we are joined by a very special guest, our first ever guest, Ani Martirossian! Ani hails from the state of Maryland, USA and has just graduated from the University of Maryland with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. In her post-graduation haze, she packed her bags and set off halfway around the world to give the Birthright Armenia program a whirl. In this episode, Ani tells us about her close ties with her Armenian ancestry, why she decided to come and volunteer in Gyumri, her impressions of the city, how she has grown even closer to her Armenian roots as a result of the program and much more. 

Ռադիո Մարիամի տաղավարում այս անգամ հյուրընկալել ենք Մարիաննա Ավետիսյանին, ով մեզնից շատերին ծանոթ է՝ «մեղվաբույծ աղջիկը» անվամբ: Խոսել ենք մեղվաբուծության, ինչպես նաև՝ մեղուների հետ կապված մի շարք հետաքրքիր փաստերի մասին:

Հավանաբար, շատերս ենք լսել, թե ինչպես է թղթի վերամշակումը օգնում շրջակա միջավայրին: Հատկապես օգնում է նվազեցնել ջերմոցային գազերի արտանետումները: Թուղթը վերամշակելու համար 70%-ով ավելի քիչ էներգիա և ջուր է պահանջվում, քան ծառերից նոր թղթե արտադրանք ստեղծելու համար: Ընդամենը մեկ տոննա թղթի վերամշակումը խնայում է 17 ծառ։ Ռադիո Մարիամի տաղավարում հյուրընկալել ենք Էկոթուղթ կազմակերպության համահիմնադիր Գուրգեն Միրզոյանին, ում հետ զրուցել ենք թղթի թափոնների վերամշակման, դրա կարևորության ու էկոկրթության մասին։ 

Շները վաղուց ոչ միայն մարդու չորքոտանի, կրտսեր բարեկամն են, այլև՝ հայտնի են նրանով, որ հիանալի պահապան ու ծառայողական ընկերներ են։ Ուստի՝ այսօր խոսելու ենք այն մասին, թե շներն ի՞նչ ազդեցություն են թողնում ընտանիքում՝ ոչ միայն մեծահասակների, այլև՝ հատկապես երեխաների հոգեբանության, զարգացման ու անձնային աճի վրա, ինչ հանգամանքներ է պետք հաշվի առնել՝ նախքան մեր պատասխանատվության տակ շուն վերցնելը, որն է ծառայողական շների դերը շարժունակության կամ տեսողական խնդիր ունեցող անձանց պարագայում, ինչպես նաև՝  ինչպես է ձևավորվում շան վարքագիծը, և որ գործոններն են, որ բացասաբար են անդրադառնում կենդանու վարքագծի վրա, ինչը, երբեմն, դառնում է շան ագրեսիվ պահվածքի պատճառ։ Ռադիո Մարիամի տաղավարում է շների հոգեբան, վարժեցնող Ռոլանդ Պողոսյանը։

Սկսած ո՞ր տարիքից և ինչպե՞ս են խաղում այս մարզախաղը, ամեն ինչ՝ փադըլի մասին։ Ռադիո Մարիամի տաղավարում են Pame Padel Armenia ակումբի մարզիչ Արման Մուրադյանը և մենեջեր Ստելլա Բաղդասարյանը: 

Հավանաբար շատերս ենք նկատել տախտակի վրա կանգնած թիավարողների և ցանկացել ենք լինել նրանց փոխարեն։ Արդյոք ովքե՞ր կարող են զբաղվել սապբորդինգով, կա՞ն սահմանափակումներ ու հակացուցումներ, ինչպե՞ս ընտրել համապատասխան տախտակ և ինչպե՞ս սովորել ճիշտ թիավարել։ Այս և այլ հարցերին անդրադարձել է «Սապմեն Արմենիա» ակումբի հիմնադիր, սապհրահանգավորող Կարեն Սարգսյանը։

Ձիասպորտը հայտնի է ոչ միայն որպես տարածված մարզաձև, այլև՝ հայտնի է նրանով, որ մարդու օրգանիզմի վրա թողնում է դրական ազդեցություն և ֆիզիոլոգիական տեսանկյունից համարվում է առողջարար սպորտաձև։ Լալա Տերմինասյանի հետ խոսել ենք ձիասպորտում առկա կանոնների, որոշ նրբությունների և ձիերի բնավորության ու վարքի մասին։ 

Ի տարբերություն դայվինգի՝ ֆրիդայվինգում սուզորդը բավարարվում է թթվածնի այն քանակով, որը հասցրել է շնչել նախքան սուզվելը, քանի որ չունի անհրաժեշտ տեխնիկաներ և ակվալանգ։ «Արմդայվինգ»–ի նախագահ Տիգրան Ազիզբեկյանի հետ խոսել ենք դայվինգի, ֆրիդայվինգի, դրանց տարբերության և մարդու օրգանիզմում դրական ազդեցության մասին։

 Սպորտային հաղորդումների շրջանակներում այս անգամ անդրադարձել ենք ժայռամագլցմանը, որը ևս համարվում է էքստրեմալ սպորտաձև։ Ռադիո Մարիամի տաղավարում հյուրընկալել ենք ժայռամագլցման մարզիչ Զավեն Առաքելյանը։
